Playfulness over a Meadow (1905)

Playfulness over a Meadow

Oil on Canvas: 21" x 36"
Catalog# PEDV-005

A light, playful scene of a meadow, this painting offers an Expressionistic representation of a summer day. Nestled in a meadow of yellow flowers and green grasses, a stream in the right of the composition curves its way toward the scattered farmhouses in the deep center of the piece, reflecting the brilliant blues of the cloud-laden sky above. A flock of white and black wing-tipped birds playfully circle above the center of the composition.

Executed with quick strokes and thick paint, this piece is as much alive to the sense of the visual as it is to the subject matter.
